E.g. If a student enrols for 9 hours in the fall semester and receives a 0.25FTE research assistantship:

1. Tuition charged to account - $1,778, assistantship grant credited to account - $889. Balance paid by student - $889.
2. Student withdraws week 7 of the semester.
3. Tuition charge reduced to 50% of original cost - $889.
4. Assistantship grant reduced to 25% of original tuition - $445.
5. Refund now due to student - $445.
6. BUT - original payment - $889 therefore net cost to student is $444.
