Graduate Application Instructions
Master's to Doctoral Program: within same graduate program (Type 3)

for International Applicants


Application Instructions:
 
  1. Complete Online Expedited Application Form. If you are a currently enrolled Master’s student at The University of Alabama applying to the Ed.S or Doctoral Program in the same department or area as your Master’s Program. 
  2. As required by the department or program to which application is made, applicants should contact their departments to see if new test scores (ETS:TOEFL/GRE, PearsonVue:GMAT, Harcourt:MAT) are required.
  3. Deadlines: All components of your application should be completed and received by the Graduate School at least six weeks prior to departmental deadlines. If the department does not specify a deadline, all application materials must be received by the Graduate School at least six weeks prior to the intended semester of enrollment. See the Graduate Catalog to review departmental application deadlines.
  4. Assistantships, Fellowships, and Financial Aid: Many types of financial support are available, including Graduate Council Fellowships, Graduate Council Research Fellowships, McNair Graduate Fellowships, departmental teaching assistantships, and departmental research assistantships.  Please contact the department in which you are interested to obtain information and application procedures for assistantships and fellowships. Applications for loans and workstudy assignments must be made through the Office of Student Financial Aid, Box 870162, Tuscaloosa, AL 35487-0162. Additional information about financial support for Graduate School can be found in our Financial Assistance Handbook.
  5. Your application will be complete when all materials listed above are received by the Graduate School Office.
  6. Visa and Financial Documents: Applicants must provide proof of ability to finance graduate studies by Completing the Non-Immigrant I-20/DS-2019 Request Form and Certificate of Finances Form. All documents not in English must be accompanied by certified English Translations.
