:: INSTRUCTIONS FOR PREPARING STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:
  • Write a detailed and carefully edited statement and copy the plain text into the box below. You may prefer to prepare your statement while offline in a plain text editor. This will allow you to edit the text, spell check, etc. more carefully.
  • Indicate your reasons for wishing to undertake graduate study, your reasons for choosing The University of Alabama, and your plans for a professional career.   • Applicants should consult their intended major department for any additional information to include with the statement of purpose. 
  • Applicants for graduate degrees in College of Education should attach a separate sheet giving a brief summary of their previous teaching experience to include location, level, position, and the issuing state and date of their specific certification.
