JANUARY 2008

January 01
  • All international applicants are encouraged to have complete applications 6-8 months from the Fall semester. 

  • Psychology department deadline for all majors, including Cognitive Studies, applications for Fall semester 2008. Applicants should submit completed application materials to the Graduate School office at least 6 weeks prior to this deadline.

January 02-16
  • Application for degree must be completed and on filed at the Graduate School for students expecting to graduate in May 2008.
  • Application for admission to candidacy must be completed and turned in by this date to the Graduate School office for students expecting to graduate in May 2008.
January 08
  • Deadline for seven copies of each college’s nominations for the four UA-wide graduate student teaching and research awards to be delivered to the Graduate School.
January 10
  • Spring semester 2008 classes begin.

January 10-18
  • Late registration/add/drop for Spring 2008 semester.
January 09
  • Departments notified about the nomination deadline for Graduate Student Research and Travel Awards.
  • Deadline for seven copies of each college’s nominations for the four UA-wide graduate student teaching and research awards to be delivered to the Graduate School.
January 15
  • Recommended date for submitting completed application materials to the Graduate School office for graduate programs in Speech Language Pathology, MBA, and Social Work.

  • Final deadline for submitting application materials to School Psychology program at the College of Education.

  • Holiday-Martin Luther King’s Birthday observed.

January 16
  • Last Day of late registration , Last Day to add a course.
January 17
  • Deadline for departmental nominations for Graduate Council Research/Creative Activity Fellowship.

January 23
  • Deadline for departmental nominations for Graduate Council Fellowships, Round 1.

January 24
  • Thesis/Dissertation Seminar. 2:00-2:50 p.m. at 110 Bidgood Hall
January 19
  • Last day to register or add a course for Spring semester 2008.  
  • Last day for certification of Academic Common Market Scholarship for Spring 2008 Semester.
January 20
  • Announcement of Graduate Council Regular Fellowship competition (Round 1).
  • Competition for the National Alumni Association Graduate Scholarship announced.
January 21
  • Announcement of awards for Graduate Council Research/Creative Activity Fellowships.
January 22
  • Last day for students receiving GA Health Insurance benefits to register at the Student Health Center
January 25
  • Thesis/Dissertation Seminar. 10:00-10:50 p.m. at 110 Bidgood Hall.
  • Last day to remove two-week incomplete grade.  
  • Tentative deadline for Graduate Student Research and Travel Awards.

FEBRUARY 2008

February 01
  • School of Social Work deadline for priority consideration of Master of Social Work applications for Fall semester 2008.
February 03
  • Deadline for departmental nominations for Regular Graduate Council Fellowship (Round 1).
February 06
  • Graduate School Seminar-“How to Apply to Graduate School”-2:00 p.m. at 102 Rose Administration. Contact Carl Williams at 348-5921 for more information.
  • Last Day to remove a four-week incomplete grad.
February 13
  • Deadline for departmental nominations for Graduate Council Research/Creative Activity Fellowship.
February 14
  • Tentative date for Regular Graduate Council Fellowship awards to be announced (Round 1).

  • Tentative date for departments to begin submitting nominations for Regular Graduate Council Fellowship (Round 2). 

February 15
  • Masters of Business Administration Program deadline for priority consideration of MBA applications for Fall 2008 semester. 

  • Applicants should submit completed application materials to Graduate School office at least 6 weeks prior to the deadline.

February 26
  • Graduate Council Meeting-3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.-110 AIME building
  • Tentative date for nominations to be submitted by departments for Regular Graduate Council Fellowships (Round 2). 
February 29
  • Deadline for Last Lecture Nominations.

MARCH 2008

March 03
  • Deadline to submit an approved title card (available at the Graduate School office or on the Graduate School website) with the exact title (TYPED) of the thesis/dissertation for students expecting to graduate in May.
  • Deadline to receive official transcripts for those students graduating in May who are transferring credit. No Exceptions!
March 05
  • Deadlines to apply for transfer of graduate credit earned at another institution. Official transcript from the institution must be on file at the Graduate School. (Applicable to prospective May graduates)
  • Tentative date for Regular Grad Council Fellowships to be announced (Round 2)

March 06
  • Departments are asked to begin the nomination process for National Alumni Association License Tag Fellowships.
  • Tentative date for announcement for last round of Regular Graduate Council Fellowships (Round 3)
  • Application deadline for summer semester 2008 admission to the Speech-Language Pathology graduate program.
  • Completed applications should be submitted to the Graduate School office.
  • Graduate Assistant administration workshop I
March 14-15
  • Foreign Language Examinations if required by student’s department.
March 16-21
  • Holidays- Spring Break (Graduate School Office Closed).
March 14-25
  • Faculty/student advising for Summer, and Fall 2008 begins.

March 24
  • Classes resume at 7 a.m.
March 26
  • Theses/Dissertations due to the Graduate School office for students graduating in May 2008, Successfully, defended and edited. No Exceptions

  • Last Day to drop a course

March 27
  • Tentative date for nominations to be submitted by departments for Regular Graduate Council Fellowships (Round 3)

March 28
  • Last day to drop a course with a grade of "W".

  • Graduate Assistant administration workshop II
  • Last day to report results of comprehensive examination for students writing theses/dissertations.

APRIL 2008

April 01-30
  • All degree candidates must pay a $40 diploma fee to the Office of Student Receivables any time during the month of April in order to participate in May commencement.
April 02
  • Counselor Education department deadline for the Summer and Fall 2008 semesters.  Applicants should submit completed application materials to the Graduate School office at least 6 weeks prior to this deadline.

  • Deadline for departmental nominations for Graduate Council Fellowships, Round 3.

April 03
  • Criminal Justice department deadline for submitting applications for admission to Fall semester 2008. 

  • Graduate School Diversity Day 10:00-2:00 Ferguson Center

  • Applicants should submit completed application materials to the Graduate School office at least 6 weeks prior to this deadline.

  • Communicative Disorders departmental deadline for submitting applications for admission to Fall 2008 semester.

April 5
  • Tentative nomination deadline for national alumni association ? Tag Fellowship 
April 11
  • Graduate Assistant administration workshop III.
April 13
  • Tentative date for announcement of Regular Graduate Council Fellowships awards (Round 3).
April 15
  • Deadline for international applicants currently in the U.S. to have complete applications for Fall admission (unless the department has an earlier deadline)

April 14-18
  • Honors Week 2008 (Classes proceed as scheduled)
April 18
  • Honors Day-Classes dismissed after 10 a.m.
April 22
  • Last day to report results of comprehensive exams for May graduating students NOT writing theses and dissertations.
  • Graduate Council Meeting-3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.-205 Gorgas Library.
April 25
  • Last day for all tests.

MAY 2008

May 01
  •  Last Lecture,6:00 p.m., Location TBA.
May 02
  • Spring semester 2008 classes end.
May 04
  • Deadline for departments to submit tuition requests forms for Graduate Assistants for summer semester.
  • Spring semester 2008 classes end.
May 07
