MAY 2008
May 02 Graduate School Seminar-“How to Apply to Graduate School”-2:00 p.m. at 122 Graves Hall. Contact Carl Williams at 348-5921 for more information.
May 05 Deadline for departments to submit tuition requests forms for Graduate Assistants for summer semester.
May 10
  • Commencement: 9:00 a.m. & 1:00 p.m.
  • Various deadlines and information pertinent to those students completing degree requirements may be obtained in the Graduate School Office.

May 12-June 30 Interim term

JUNE 2008
June 01 All international applicants are encouraged to have completed applications 6-8 months from Spring semester.
June 02 Late registration/add/drop.
June 03 Classes begin for Full Summer and Summer I terms.
June 04 Last day to register or add a course for Summer I.
June 05

Last day to be certified for Summer Academic Common Market scholarship.

June 06 Application for Degree, Application for candidacy must be on file for August  2008 graduation.
June 08
  • Last day to register for Full Summer term.
  • Deadline for submitting degree and candidacy applications for those expecting to graduate in August
June 20
  • Deadlines to apply for transfer of graduate credit earned at another institution. Official transcript from the institution must be on file at the Graduate School. (Applicable to prospective August graduates)
  • Last day to drop a course for Summer I term with a grade of "W".
  • Last day to drop a course on-line. Drops after this date need to be processed in the student's college office.
  • Last Day to submit thesis/dissertation title card to the Graduate school office.
June 20 Expected deadline for departments to submit tuition request forms for Graduate Assistants for Fall 2008 semester in order to ensure that the student receives full credit before confirmation deadline.

June 27

 Last day to submit defended theses and dissertations to the Graduate School Office to graduate in summer. No Exception!

JULY 2008
July 01 Deadline for completed applications for U.S. applicants for the Fall semester, unless the desired program has an earlier deadline.  
July 02 Departments begin online registration of new GTAs for August Workshop
July 02&03 Final exams for Summer I term.
July 04 Holiday- Independence Day observed.
July 05 Summer I classes end.
July 7 Registration for Summer II begins.
July 9 Last day to drop for Summer term II  with a grade of "W".
July 11
  • Last day to drop a course for Full Summer  term with a grade of "W".
  • Last day to drop a course on-line. Drops after this date need to be processed in the student's college office.

July 16-17 Foreign language examinations.
July 25
  • Last day to drop for Summer II term with a grade of "W".
  • Last day to report results of final comprehensive examinations to Graduate School Office for those students not writing theses and dissertations and who expect to graduate in summer 2008

AUGUST 2008
August 06 Summer II term classes end.
August
7-8		 Final exams for Full Summer and Summer II terms.  
August 08 Last day for submission of fall 2008 graduate assistantship PA forms, if budget office approval still required.
August 09

August 14-15 Workshop for new Graduate Teaching Assistants: Bryant Conference Center from 8 am - 4 p.m. each day. Contact the Graduate School at 348-5921 for more information.
August 17 Last day for submission of fall 2008 graduate fellowship awards if paying August 31st.
August 20 Classes begin for Fall semester.
August 27 Last day to be certified for Fall Academic Common Market scholarship.
August 30
  • Tentative date for Departments notification of Graduate Student Research and Travel Awards for fall semester.
  • Late registration/add/drop for Fall semester
August 31 Final day for graduate assistants receiving UA health insurance benefits for fall 2008 to enroll at the Student Health Center.
