FALL 2008 DEADLINES |
| Students who are planning to graduate in December must meet certain deadlines set by the Graduate School. Please notify Our Office at once if you will be unable to meet the deadlines. |
| August 19-27 | Late
Registrations, drop/add for fall.
Application for Degree must be filed in the Graduate School Office by those students who anticipate graduating this fall. A $10.00 fee is charged for applying to graduate and not meeting degree requirements. (Application for admission to candidacy should precede applying for degree. It is the student's responsibility to see that admission to candidacy is on file in the Graduate Office.) | September 17 | Last day to remove a four-week incomplete grade |
| SEPT. 29-30 | Foreign language examinations. Information pertaining to the exams may be obtained from the foreign language department concerned. |
| October 8 | Last day to submit thesis/dissertation title card to the Graduate School Office. (Applicable only to those students who expect to complete degree requirements by the semester's end.) |
| Mid October | Preregistration for Spring 2009. Specific dates to be announced. |
| October 17 | Deadline to apply for transfer of graduate credit earned at another institution. (Applicable only to prospective December graduates.) NO EXCEPTIONS! |
| October 24 | Last day to submit successfully defended and edited theses and dissertations to the Graduate School Office. NO EXCEPTIONS! |
| October 24 | Last day to report results of comprehensive examinations for students writing theses and dissertations. |
| October 29 | Last day to drop a course* |
| During the month of November | Pay office of Student Receivable diploma fee (Box 870120, Tuscaloosa, AL 35487 or via mybama.ua.edu) |
| November 26 | Last day to report results of comprehensive exams for graduating students NOT writing theses and dissertations. |
| December 13 | Commencement - Complete information will be provided by the Office of the University Registrar. |

* If, in extraordinary circumstances, a student is permitted by the Graduate Dean to drop a course after this date, the student's academic status at the time of dropping will be noted on the record ("W" for courses passing, "F" for courses failing). This is also true for students fully withdrawing from the University after the tenth week of a semester.
