1. Monthly Seminar
You are invited to attend our monthly seminar: "Applying to Graduate School"
2. Preview Day
The purpose of Preview Day event is to provide information to undergraduate students and to other prospective graduate students, including non-traditional graduate students, who are interested in pursuing a graduate degree at The University of Alabama. The Kaplan Education Center, Inc. (now offering graduate admissions test preparation classes through The University of Alabama Center for Teaching and Learning) will be on hand to provide a FREE practice test for the GRE, GMAT or LSAT. 3. Diversity Day
The purpose of Graduate School Diversity Day is to provide information to undergraduate minority students from The University of Alabama as well as undergraduate students from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU’S), and about graduate education.
4. Graduate Fair
If you live in Alabama, talk with a UA Graduate School Representative at Alabama Connection: Graduate Fair.
5. Orientation
Graduate Student Orientation is a one-day program, coordinated by the Office of Graduate Student Services in Student Affairs. It takes place in the Ferguson Student Center during the week before the beginning of fall semester classes. Registration forms are available here. 6. The Last Lecture Series
The Last lecture Series features a University of Alabama faculty member nominated and selected by students to answer one question in the form of a highly engaging lecture: "If this were your last time to address a group of students, what would you say to them?" ... see details.
7. GTA Workshop
GTA Workshop for New Graduate Teaching Assistants and GTA Training Activities for Departments (Survey Reports)
8. Thesis/Dissertation Seminar
Each Fall and Spring semester, the Graduate Student Association (GSA) and the Graduate School sponsor a seminar on "Completing a Thesis or Dissertation" The session covers topics on: Beginning the thesis or dissertation writing process, Selecting a topic, Establishing a thesis or dissertation committee, Establishing a realistic timetable, Determining the detailed steps to include in the timetable, Organizing the manuscript, Avoiding common problems in writing a manuscript, Avoiding common problems that slow down the process. 9. UA Graduate Student Research Conference
The Graduate Student Association holds a Research Conference every year. The goal of this event is to enhance student awareness and involvement in research. All students participating in research of various fashions are encouraged to submit their proposals. View detailed conference information ...
