Faculty Fellows
Faculty Fellows serve as instructors in the McNair Scholars Seminars taken by Scholars. Spring semester, the Faculty Fellow teaches new Scholars about the nature of intellectual inquiry, supporting Scholars' work on their research proposals. In the fall, the Faculty Fellow instructs Scholars about the culture of academe, teaching, and scholarly writing, as Scholars prepare reports of their research for publication. Faculty Fellows meet with Scholars outside seminar and collaborate among themselves and with program staff, to support Scholars' progress and the program overall. Applications are accepted mid-year for the following calendar year. To date, fifteen UA faculty have served as McNair Scholars Faculty Fellows.

The 2011 McNair Scholars Faculty Fellows enjoy the annual McNair Scholars Honors Convocation (l-r): Dr. Susan Burkett, Alabama Power Foundation Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, and Dr. Lisa Scherff, Associate Professor of Curriculum and Instruction, in Secondary English and Language Arts, and Director, Belser-Parton Literacy Center.
