TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - “Believe it or not, some advertising
makes the world better,” according to an executive of one of
the world’s largest public relations agencies who will give a
presentation by that title on Thursday, March 7, on The
University of Alabama campus.
Katharine Day Bremer, senior vice president and general
manager in the Atlanta office of Porter Novelli, will give this
presentation in 216 Reese Phifer Hall from 7:30-8:45 p.m. The
Advertising Educational Foundation’s Ambassador Program and
UA’s department of
advertising and public relations will sponsor the talk.
With offices in 96 cities and 57 countries, Porter Novelli
International is one of the world’s top 10 largest public
relations agencies.
In the Foundation’s Ambassador Program, seasoned executives
who represent major advertising agencies, advertisers and media
companies volunteer their time and talents to meet with faculty
and students for a one-day visit. Ambassadors are available to
discuss not only the process, but also the issues surrounding
advertising, such as ethics, gender portrayals, and cultural
diversity. More than 150 colleges and universities participate
in any given year.
Bremer oversees the Porter Novelli Atlanta office, which
focuses on consumer, technology, health care and social
marketing accounts. Prior to joining Porter Novelli, Bremer was
senior vice president of external relations for CARE for seven
years. CARE reaches 25 million people each year through programs
in more than 60 countries. At CARE, she oversaw fundraising,
corporate partnerships, branding, strategic planning, and all
aspects of external communications including the Web site.
