TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The University of Alabama College
of Communication and Information Sciences will host Ofield
Dukes on Tuesday, Oct. 1 as part of their Public Relations
Distinguished Lecture Series.
Dukes’ speaking engagement is free and open to the public
and will be held in Reese Phifer Hall room 216 at 9:30 a.m. His
lecture is titled “Public Relations Ethics, Politics and
International Communication.”
Dukes is the founder and president of Ofield Dukes and
Associates, a public relations firm in Washington, D.C. He names
among the firm’s clients the Democratic National Committee,
Sony Music Entertainment Inc., the U.S. Treasury, RJR Nabisco
Inc. and the Congressional Black Caucus.
He has been a communications consultant in every Democratic
presidential campaign since 1968.
Among his many honors, Dukes is the founder of the Black
Public Relations Society, a board member of the Congressional
Black Caucus Foundation, a board member of the Martin Luther
King, Jr. Center for Nonviolent Social Change, board member of
the National Coalition of Black Voter Participation, board
member of the Public Relations Society of America and is 2002
diversity committee co-chair for the Public Relations Society of
America College of Fellows.
