Kenon A. Brown

Doctoral student in the College of Communication and Information Sciences

Kenon A. Brown is a third-year doctoral student in the College of Communication and Information Sciences, and is scheduled to graduate August 2012. His research interests combine sports communication and crisis communication by empirically examining the impact that transgressions against an athlete or team affect the perception of their image in the public eye. He currently has publications in Journal of Public Relations Research, Journal of Sports Media, and Public Relations Review. Kenon has eight years of marketing and management experience, including more than three years as the local marketing representative for Buffalo Wild Wings in Knoxville, TN. Prior to pursuing his doctorate, Kenon received his B.S. in journalism and his M.S. in public relations from The University of Tennessee. An avid musician, Kenon was a member of his high school and college marching bands, and has arranged music for several Memphis-area high school marching bands. He was drum major at Tennessee in 2004. A long-time Atlanta Falcons and Memphis Tigers fan, Kenon chose to pursue his Ph.D. at Alabama because of its unrivaled reputation in mass communication, as well as Tuscaloosa’s distance from his hometown and Atlanta.
