Van Baucum – American Studies

Van Baucum is a current graduate student in the American Studies department and will be receiving his M.A. in May 2010. He is a Tuscaloosa native who graduated from the Alabama School of Math and Science in 1998 and then received his Bachelors degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Alabama in 2003. After completion of his undergraduate degree, he was commissioned in the United States Army and spent five years on active duty, to include a year-long deployment to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. His research interests include American literature and film and their relation to American opinion and satire in contemporary, modern, and Victorian America.
