Dr. Oscar Holmes IV – Management

Dr. Oscar Holmes IV was awarded his Ph.D. and M.A. in Management/Organizational Behavior at the Culverhouse College of Commerce and Business Administration at The University of Alabama on May 3, 2013. His research interests include examining how managers can maximize employee productivity by fostering more inclusive work environments that mitigate interpersonal and organizational threats. His research has been published in several academic journals such as the Journal of Organizational Behavior, Journal of Management, Spirituality, and Religion, and Equal Opportunities International and a book entitled Alpha Phi Alpha: A Legacy of Greatness, The Demands of Transcendence. He received a B.S. with honors in Psychology from Virginia Commonwealth University with a minor in Spanish and Human Resource Management and earned a Master’s of Liberal Arts degree in International and American Cultural Studies from The University of Richmond. In 2006, he participated in Stanford University’s rigorous Graduate School of Business Summer Institute in General Management. Dr. Holmes has won the Management Department’s Most Outstanding Doctoral Student Award, the Whisenton Award, Alabama SREB Dissertation Fellowship Award and he and his students were featured in a recent edition of The Crimson White for their work in raising monies and awareness for national non-profits. He attended the Chesapeake Bay Governor’s School and King and Queen County Public Schools where he graduated Valedictorian of his high school class. He has worked as a public school high school and college Spanish teacher and as a World Languages Technology Integrator prior to earning his doctorate. He is a public speaker, scholar activist, and member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
