Janet L. Bavonese – Elementary Education

Janet L. Bavonese is a graduate student in the Ed. D. program in Elementary Education offered through the Department of Curriculum and Instruction in the College of Education. Janet is a long-time educator with a variety of P-16 experiences ranging from the classroom, literacy coaching, curriculum administration, and preservice teacher education. Currently, Janet is an instructor of elementary education reading methods courses at Jacksonville State University. She is in her third year of the doctoral program and is presently working on her dissertation proposal. Janet is interested in researching ways that elementary preservice teachers develop TPACK (technological, pedagogical, and content knowledge) relating to reading and language arts. She has an active research agenda that includes teacher education, new literacies, social media, and TPACK development. Janet is active on social media sites and is curator for several teacher centered Facebook groups and Pinterest Boards. She frequently attends conferences and presents on a variety of topics.
