Tawanna Samuel is a native of Ralph, Alabama and a student in the Master’s of Social Work program. At the age of 19, Ms. Samuel became a foster parent. Ms. Samuel’s love of children has continued. She is currently a licensed therapeutic foster parent with Brewer Porch Children’s Center. At The University of Alabama Ms. Samuel started the Graduate Social Work Organization (GSWO) and is the MSW student representative on the Field Education Advisory Committee. The GWSO has become an important advocacy, outreach, and awareness group. In the community Ms. Samuel has been recognized for her service to the Community Soup Bowl.
