Aditya Upreti is a Ph.D. Candidate in the Department of Physics and Astronomy, originally from India. Before joining the University of Alabama, he completed a master’s in physics from Panjab University, Chandigarh.  

He works as a Graduate Research Assistant and is passionate about Physics. His primary research focus is experimental particle physics. He is working on the MoEDAL experiment at CERN (European Council of Nuclear Research) – an experimental facility for particle physics research based in Geneva, Switzerland. For his research at UA, Aditya was awarded the departmental award for ‘Outstanding Dissertation Research by a Graduate Student’ in 2022. Previously, he has worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant, teaching Physics to undergraduates.  

He is a member of the American Physical Society (APS). Aditya is the current president of the Indian Students Association of Tuscaloosa (ISAT) and the Physics and Astronomy Graduate Students Association (PAGSA). He is actively involved in promoting Indian culture and diversity at UA through ISAT’s events. In his free time, he enjoys hiking and running.
