French Applied Linguistics

Deborah Ariyo is a graduate student pursuing her Masters in French Applied Linguistics and currently serves as a Graduate Teaching Assistant for the Modern Languages and Classics department.
Deborah obtained her bachelor’s degree in French Language from one of the renowned universities in Nigeria, Africa; Lagos State University, Ojo, Lagos State, Nigeria, in 2016.
She speaks three languages fluently and learning a few others. She is also a member of the African Student Association at the University of Alabama.
She is passionate about volunteering, community development, and humanitarian activities. Currently, she is the communication officer for an international non-profit organization – Eco-Diversified. Her interest lies in sustainable development in areas of education and women empowerment. She hopes to build her career in advancing education, partnering with non-profit organizations with the aim to bridge the literacy gap in Nigeria and Africa.
She is honored and privileged to serve as a graduate ambassador and looking forward to helping other students scale through their hurdles.
