Phylisicia Carter is a native of Fayetteville, NC and is currently pursuing her PhD in Applied Mathematics. Her research interests include analysis of textual data, closing the achievement gap between minority students and their white counterparts, and sports analytics. While at The University of Alabama, Phylisicia has served as Secretary, Vice-President, and President of the African American Graduate Student Association. She is also a member of the Graduate Council Committee, a Graduate Student Association delegate for the Mathematics Department, and a Tide Together Mentor. Phylisicia is also a recipient of the 2017 Southern Regional Educational Board Dissertation Award.
