The College of Human Environmental Sciences is offering an expedited path to graduate study for UA seniors who wish to pursue a master’s degree in their home department or major for Fall 2020.

Many programs in the College of Human Environmental Sciences can be pursued online or on campus and offer the choice between a thesis or non-thesis plan of study.

The Quick Admit Program is open to eligible May and August 2020 HES graduates wishing to pursue a master’s degree in the same program as their undergraduate major.

Application Requirement Waivers

If your GPA is at least 3.0, you are exempt from the following requirements:

  • Application fee
  • Statement of Purpose
  • Letters of recommendation
  • GRE

Requisite GPA

  • 3.3+ GPA qualifies for automatic admission to select programs and expedited review for all programs
  • 3.0-3.29 GPA qualifies for expedited application review

Consumer Sciences MS

Current undergraduate major must be in Consumer Sciences and pursuing one of the following graduate programs:

  • Conflict Resolution Certificate
  • Concentration in Consumer Economics
  • Concentration in Family Financial Planning Counseling

Human Environmental Sciences MS

Current undergraduate major must be in any HES discipline and pursuing one of the following graduate areas of focus:

  • Consumer Quality Management
  • Conflict Resolution
  • Human Environmental Sciences
  • Restaurant, Hotel & Meetings Management – summer admission only
  • Sport Hospitality – summer admission only

Human Environmental Sciences MS
(Apparel & Textiles focus)

Current undergraduate major must be in Clothing, Textiles & Interior Design. This program does not qualify for automatic admission. Expedited Review Expedited Review

Health Education & Promotion MPH or
Health Studies MA

Current undergraduate major must be in Public Health Automatic Admission Expedited Review

Human Development & Family Studies MS

Undergraduate major is HDFS or ECE and no concentration is pursued

Undergraduate major is HDFS or ECE and pursuing a concentration in either Marriage & Family Therapy or Child Life

Current undergraduate major must be in Human Nutrition and pursuing one of the following graduate concentrations:

  • Community Nutrition
  • Clinical Nutrition
  • Generalist

Hospitality Management MS

Current undergraduate major must be in Human Nutrition or Hospitality Management and pursuing one of the following graduate areas of focus:

  • MS in Hospitality Management
  • MS in Hospitality Management with concentration in Sport Hospitality (starting Fall 2020)

Note: Students from non-HES undergraduate majors or who graduate under a different HES major may apply to an HES master’s program through standard admission routes. The GRE requirement and application fee are waived for all Fall 2020 CHES applicants, regardless of undergraduate major or GPA.
