Program Description

Rising juniors and seniors are invited to apply for a 10-week summer research experience in population health equity. Health equity is when everyone has the opportunity to be as healthy as possible. Population health is a collaborative approach among health stakeholders to gain knowledge about how to help different populations achieve positive health outcomes.

Participants will gain exposure to health disparities research, health ethics, and clinical research through a combination of lectures, mentoring, professional development experiences, hands-on research, and presentation opportunities. This research experience will be centered on developing skills and providing exposure to population health research that will enhance participant’s potential to apply for, be admitted, and graduate from Master of Science, PhD, or MD programs. Applicants must have a 3.3 GPA, and a quantitative science or STEM background or have taken several quantitative classes beyond an intro-level course in mathematics. No specific major is required, and students interested in future careers in medicine, population health, public health, or other health professions that require a graduate education are encouraged to apply.
