The best teachers hone their skills by constantly questioning, adapting and embracing new ideas. The University of Alabama’s commitment to strong pedagogy led us to develop the Workshop for New Graduate Teaching Assistants. We prepare new GTAs for university instruction by developing the necessary skills to manage an upper-level classroom.
Held in May, this three-week (12-day) seminar grants dissertation writers an opportunity to make progress on their projects and improve their writing with a network of fellow researchers. Prospective participants must complete an application in the spring semester. Details will be available closer to the date with social media and email announcements.
Beyond the Professoriate’s Career Training Platform is an online professional development tool where postdocs and graduate students can explore career options and learn job search strategies. Through two programs of study (Academic Careers and Professional Careers), students are empowered to make informed decisions about their career path and learn successful job search strategies from other PhDs. National Center for Faculty Development and Diversity
The University of Alabama is a proud institutional member of the National Center for Faculty Development and Diversity (NCFDD). NCFDD is an independent organization nationally recognized for providing professional development, training, and a mentoring community for faculty members, postdocs, and graduate students. NCFDD will provide all UA faculty, post docs, and graduate students free access to a number of the NCFDD’s programs and resources.
